Very rudimentary writings on SMW romhacking scene that I intend to expand (hopefully)...

And this is said the complete history of Kaizo SMW hacks.

Nonetheless, I've found some interesting info on the prior-LM history of SMW romhacking, on fascinating non-Kaizo hacks made by hex editing, and information on how LM could possibly be made – in a certain context of privileges, I'd say.

When first introduced to a complete history of Kaizo Mario hacks (or any attempts of a “whole”/“brief” History), we gotta pay attention. This could lead us to the understanding that hacks other than kaizo were never a thing or are historically less worth of mention or even that the development of modern kaizo isn't related to those hacks at all, depending on how you define the term (modern kaizo is popularly considered as a playing style, while the word kaizo was originally coined just to mean “modified”).

This can also compromise our imagination on what might have been developed within the scene, if other practices had not been earlier abandoned or simply discarded.

Some (many) questions remain, but it seems like, by the beginning, the community has chosen a single path to its own development. Which leads to some perplexities faced by the community and its current professed values.
